GospelKeys Urban Pro 600: Contemporary Chords and Progressions Video Course (Digital Version)
GospelKeys Urban Pro 600 will show you, step by step, how to master tons of contemporary and urban chords and voicings on every tone of the scale. Similar to GospelKeys 202, you'll learn how to combine these modern, two-hand voicings into progressions and urban movements that are heard in countless numbers of gospel songs.
On top of that, the emphasis on how to use grace notes, slides, pivoting tones, fill-ins, and other nuances will give you many of the necessary techniques to take your contemporary gospel playing to that next level! You'll study everything from major, minor, dominant, diminished, augmented, seventh, ninth, eleventh, and thirteenth chords — the big difference, however, is that you get loads of unique urban and contemporary ways to voice these chords.
Discover:
-
How to play tons of P-H-A-T (that is, "FULL") urban chords off every tone of the scale using the award-winning, step-by-step, "GospelKeys" approach to learning!
-
Tons of voicings, left-hand techniques, right-hand triad tricks, "runs," and more... that you can outright claim as your own!
-
How to incorporate the "padding element" into your playing to help give the melody a much smoother sound! Very important.
-
Discover highly-used (but rarely talked about) "unofficial shortcuts" that allow you to add "good" dissonance and tension to your playing at the right time. Believe it or not, having a certain level of dissonance present is good when you know how and where to incorporate it.
- Learn how to shift your thinking from the right to the left. Learn full chords on the left and what to do on the right hand to accompany them. This is certainly a closely-guarded secret that's going to be completely exposed.
-
Implement a host of simple tricks that are guaranteed to instantly add that well-known west coast flavor to your playing (like Jason White and Mike Burrell).
-
Beef up your playing drastically by adding these small little grace notes, slides, and fill-ins to your chord transitions. Jon utilizes this trick at least 80% of the time and he spills the beans on exactly what to do to "own" it.
-
How to master the art of passing chords so that your chord progressions and songs never sound dull or "predictable." As you'll learn in the course, the goal is to be "unpredictable." That's when you know you've arrived.
-
Learn the ways of the west coast and how to contemporize your playing by using countless numbers of "stu●pid " chords, movements, and accidentals! (Note: Please don't be offended. This is real terminology in the gospel musician community).
- How to play tons of opened and closed chords and how to use them at the right time.
-
The Do's and Don'ts of contemporary urban gospel playing. It's all about placement. Play the right chord the wrong way and you've just changed the mood of the progression (for the worse).
-
Create TONS of full-sounding chords by using a minimal amount of notes. Many people think that every finger must be occupied to play a "full-sounding" chord. This isn't always true. You can literally sound like a pro with only 3 notes pressed down on your right hand! The key is the left hand.
-
Master over 77 two-hand chord voicings that can be found and heard in some of the hottest gospel hits in the industry today!
-
Maximize the many ways these chords can be played by inverting them. One hand will remain the same... the other will invert. Once you get this trick, you can add it to virtually any chord pattern you know.
-
Learn the secrets behind one-note pivots and how just a few little changes to the way you play chords can totally transform your sound on the piano... west-coast style!
- And much more...
